Forever Wilde #1

Facing West

Rate this book
The first book in a new series by Lucy Lennox!

Nico:

I left my family and tiny Texas hometown fifteen years ago to escape small-town gossips and to give my mom and sister the chance at a better life. But when a phone call from an attorney back home informs me that my sister passed away, leaving me custody of her newborn baby, I’m shocked out of the steady life I’ve built for myself running a tattoo shop in San Francisco.

The thing is: I don’t do babies. And I don’t do small towns. Or commitment. And I especially don’t do family. My plan is to go back to Hobie just long enough to sign adoption papers, giving my niece the kind of stable, loving family I could never provide.

But the moment I meet my niece in the arms of Weston Wilde, my sister’s best friend and the town’s handsome doctor, my plans begin to change. Because suddenly, I see a different future. One with the very thing I thought I never deserved: a family. If only I can convince West that I’m not the same good-for-nothing kid ready to bolt when things get tough.

Weston:

There’s one thing I know for sure about Nico Salerno: he was a good-for-nothing as a kid and judging by the purple-haired, tattoo’d punk who shows up at his sister’s funeral, he hasn’t changed. There’s no way I’m letting him take custody of my best friend’s baby.

But the more time I spend around him, the more I realize that his rough exterior is just a shell and that beneath all the tattoos is a scared, insecure man searching for a place to belong. And pretty soon I know exactly where he belongs: in my bed and by my side.

The problem is, he abandoned his family once before, how do I know that if we become a family he won’t do it again?

Facing West is the first in the new Forever Wilde series about the huge Wilde family from Hobie, Texas, whose patriarchs aren’t above a little meddling if that’s what it takes to help their grandkids find true love.

STOP THE PRESSES.

I. Liked. This. Book.

Which, seriously, is like WHOA, baby.

Because I did not have good things to say about Lennox's Made Marian series.

But Facing West was really cute. And sexy.

Also, sexy.

Did I mention SEXY?

I even liked the baby, and I'm not usually one for kids in books.

The pervy old ladies in the Made Marian series were grossly inappropriate. But the grandpas in this book were just funny; yes, they threw out TMI about their sex life, but they didn't cross the sexual harassment line.

It didn't hurt that Doc and Grandpa were so freakin' ADORBS together.

Nico was skittish and impulsive. He didn't trust easily, and when things got tough he ran. But West made him want to stay. And once West got over his (completely unfair) antipathy toward Nico, he was very supportive.

Having a dual first-person POV helped me understand both men and where they were coming from.

There were definitely a few *eye roll* moments, like the baby being miraculously cured of RSV overnight, but they didn't hinder my enjoyment of the story.

This series has so much potential! I liked all the secondary characters, including the entire crazy Wilde family, and can't wait to read their stories.

The cattle ... cattle ... castle is next!

And Nicopotamous is totally a thing.

Loved Nico. Loved West. Loved Grandpa, Doc and the entire Wilde family.

But this 328 pager felt *way* longer than it needed to be. By like 100 pages.

One of my favorite things about stories like this, where someone overcomes great adversity and builds a new life all their own (like Nico did after running away from home at age 15), are the *details* of the challenges they faced along the way and how they ended up thriving.

In this story, we got only a few paragraphs, instead of many actual details, which left me wanting much, much more.

The sexy bits were both plentiful and steamy. The bedroom was not the area where Nico and West floundered. Not even a little bit.

So while not perfect, I still enjoyed it and would rate it at around 3.75 stars.

Lucy Lennox, the author that gave us the Marian brothers, has a new set of brothers for us! This is the Wilde family and the first book focuses on hot doctor Weston Wilde.

If you've read the books in the Made Marian series, you know that they are all basically the same book with different character names and different professions. Not to take anything away with how soothing that can be for a reader that knows and gets EXACTLY what they want. I do recommend this book. West and Nico are great together and little Pippa was a cherry on the whip-creamed topped sundae. The sex was fucking hot too!

I did not like this. I severely dislike angry people in my books (and in RL). And boy, were these guy angry (without good reason).

I immediately started to dislike this book when West acted like a complete ass to Nico simply because Nico left town when he was 15. As if a 15 year old boy just leaves his family because he feels like it. West remained angry about this throughout the book while also developing feelings for Nico. I hate that. I mean, talk things out before you fall in love! Not fall in love despite your negative feelings about someone.

This was a pretty rocky relationship. These guys kept mentioning over and over (and over) again that they didn’t want a boyfriend and that is was just sex. Yeah yeah, I got it.

And I don’t like books where everything is only solved in the last couple of pages and there is (almost) only heartbreak and sorrow before that. Nico kept thinking he had to go back to his old life and couldn’t seem to snap out of those thoughts. And West, I’m sorry, West was an asshole. I had such a hard time liking him.

So if you’re looking for a couple that falls in love while they still dislike each other, and have ALL the drama, read this. It wasn’t the book for me.

If the second book doesn’t have this much push and pull, I will read it because it does sound interesting….

What I like about Lennox and in extension, narrator Michael Pauley, is their ability to bring the fun and funny interspersed with over the top lust and horniness but then really grounding it in some angsty feels and always with some great familial love and dynamics. I had thoroughly enjoyed myself with Borrowing Blue and Taming Teddy from the Made Marian series but for me it had gradually veered from its expected formula which I’ve said is not necessarily a bad thing…. however, I felt this spinoff brought back the components that I enjoyed originally.

Nico (Griffin’s bff) must return home to settle the affairs of his deceased sister, mainly a baby niece that he’s almost pretty sure he sorta doesn’t want. Nonetheless, Nico’s closed off heart slowly opens as he gets to know the sweet Pippa and the other man in her life, surrogate dad/uncle Weston Wilde. These two clash immediately due to preconceived notions and assumptions, but what they can’t deny of course, is their insanely combustible attraction that they don't resist for very long at all. Ha! Can they get over themselves to make a new family with each other? Well, duh.

This was chock full of claiming growling sexy shenanigans that wasn’t lacking in the drama and a new family that can’t mind their own beeswax. I know better than to take this book too seriously, and I definitely know where to look next if I need a big dose of Lennox/Pauley/“Wilde” romance. I hope that this series keeps on delivering!

Finally!! Finally!! A Lucy Lennox series I can see myself enjoying. I'm so excited!!!

I don't know if I'm being oversensitive, but the only thing stopping this book from being 5 stars for me was the way the situation with Pippa was handled. The back and forth on what should be done with her made no sense to me. I could understand Nico's hesitation, but why the heck West didn't want her from the get go was kind of cold. He claimed to love her and was going to miss being in her life everyday, yet he was okay with her getting adopted for most of the story????

I loved this book a lot.

Well! Well! That was hot, a little heartbreaking and sweet. I laughed, I was sad at times, I swooned and awwwwwed at baby Pippa.

There is something about Lucy Lennox’s books that just sucks me in, I guess maybe it’s the way she writes about family.

I loved Michael Pauley’s narration too. These two are a match made in book heaven.

West- I loved him, he came from a supporting big family, and I enjoyed their interactions. He was supportive, patient and loving. I loved that when he got mad he spoke his mind and when he decided to let his feeling for Nico show he went all in. His was protective of Pippa and that had my stomach do flip-flops.

Nico (Nicopotamus as a drunk Felix called him)- I adored him, his insecurities made me want to hug him tight and never let him go. He ran away from home when he was fifteen due to his shitty family situation and never looked back, until a phone call that informed him his sister was dead and left him the sole custody of his niece forced him to go back his hometown. Then he met West and what followed was a beautiful love story. Nico had walls and I was happy that West was able to break them one by one.

The chemistry between West and Nico was so strong and the sex was hot as usual, and the narrator made them even hotter.

The sex-crazed lunatic fucking Nico on my kitchen table was a stranger to me. It was a side of me that had lain dormant and unknown somewhere in the far reaches of myself, but now that Nico had awakened it, my hunger was insatiable.
I thrust into Nico’s body over and over until we were both crying for release and clutching at each other’s hands. It was feral and aggressive, sweaty and hot. Sex with Nico was unlike anything from even my wildest fantasies.
“Want you to come, Nico,” I ground out between tight teeth.
“Fuck, fuck,” he panted. He tried pulling his hands out of mine so he could grab for his own cock, but I didn’t want to let him go.

I loved that mama Marian and Griff made an appearance.

Doc and Grandpa were amazing.

I loved it. I will wait for book 2 to come out on audio, I have come to associate Lucy Lennox’s characters with Michael Pauley’s voice.

sigh. i generally try not to rate books i don’t finish, but oh, man, this one pissed me off so it’s getting one star.

look, i know a majority of m/m romance is not written by or for gay men - that’s just a fact - and truthfully? that’s not usually an issue for me. i don’t believe you have to be queer to write queer stories; in fact, i’ve read a lot of wonderful m/m stories written by women and nonbinary authors. what i do think, however, is that when writing about marginalized groups of people when you don’t belong to said group (straight people writing queer stories, cis people writing trans stories, white people writing poc stories, etc, etc.) it is your DUTY to be respectful and knowledgeable about what you are writing about… and i feel this book failed in that respect.

i’ve read plenty of m/m stories where one or both MCs will pop wood at the drop of a hat for no discernible reason other than they happen to catch sight of an attractive man, fully dressed and minding his business. i can’t speak for all cis gay men, nor would i presume to, but that is just not a normal bodily reaction?? and i know a lot of these books are pretty much straight-up erotica, so i can roll my eyes and move on because i realize it’s fiction and is meant to be sexual and titillating or w/e. i can deal. there are a lot of m/m romance tropes i don’t particularly like, but even today, i feel like i’m so starved for queer media that i just take what i can get sometimes.

now, what really bothered me here in this book is the MC, West, getting aroused at his best friend’s funeral because he catches sight of her brother. i don’t know why, exactly, this bothers me so much, but it just does! like, it’s so beyond acceptable to me that Lucy Lennox wrote this scene and not a single person who edited or ARC’d the book thought, “hey, maybe that’s not a great way to represent a group of people who are already over-sexualized by society!” i just find it insulting and a little gross, frankly.

(please forgive any typos or errors. i’m on mobile but wanted to get this off my chest before i went to sleep.)

A little unsure how to rate this book. It started really strong, I loved the set-up/premise. I really enjoyed the story itself. I liked both the characters and their relationship and everything. I overall really enjoyed everything until about the 85% mark. The end was just unsatisfying to me in a way I can't even explain. I dont know, it's almost like the book ended too soon, like it needed 2-3 more chapters to give a good conclusive ending to the story. I'll still go with 4 stars because I did overall like the majority of this story, but the end really did nothing for me.

This was sweet with just a bit of angst thrown in. I really liked both characters and was happy the way their relationship developed.

Doc and Grandpa were pretty awesome and I thought how they interacted with each other was super sweet and cute. I loved their inappropriateness just as much as I did the older ladies in her other series. Though the men a bit more tamer than the ladies were.

West was a bit judgy of Nico in the beginning which threw me off of him a bit. I thought with the big family he has and how they are all so different and unique he'd be more open. But he got over himself pretty quick thankfully. He was really sweet with Nico in the end and I loved how their relationship developed.
Nico was pretty prickly and at the beginning was quick to run and keep everyone at a distance. But soon West and the older men were able to knock down his walls and show him he wasn't alone and that the family he had always wanted was reachable.

Great chemistry and a great love story.

Happy reading dolls! xx

Following the authors style it's insta-love/lust, crazy family, and hot sex. Though instead of OTT pervy Granny's we get sweet, slightly subdued OTT pervy Grandpa's? Definitely an improvement.

Slight niggle.... when the MC's first meet back up West takes one look at Nico's tattoos and piercings and makes snap judgements and assumptions about him because of them. He was hurt, angry and grieving but he has a tendency to lash out and say some pretty mean shit. They were sweet together though once they actually started to get to know each other and he admits he was wrong for thinking that way.

All in all....a nice, easy read.

It's done. DONE!!!!! I am finally done with this godforsaken book!!! I swear, when I reached that final page, I could have wept tears of pure joy. Truly, how I hated this book, it's unbelievable.

The worst part about it is that I fully expected to like this book. I recently read two other books by this author, namely Say You’ll Be Nine and Hostile Takeover, which I both loved, so I saw no reason as to why I would dislike this particular book. After all, the premise sounded perfectly fine.

But ohhh... How I was tricked! Because damn, this book was horrific. It was excruciatingly boring and I hated both of the main characters. They were so incredibly annoying, and so incredibly miss-matched. Why did they even like each other?? Who the hell knows, honestly! I think all they did was be angry at each other and have a whole bunch of sex. Literally, that's about it.
But yea, sure, that's definitely true love. Makes sense. NOT!
And aside from both of them having absolutely zero chemistry or emotional bond with each other, they are also just horrible characters on their own. I repeatedly wanted to punch both of them. They have no depth or personality other than being incredibly difficult, judgemental, over-the-top, moody, angsty, galling and stupid for no reason whatsoever.

And then those sex scenes... Jesus Christ, the sex scenes... I could honest to God hardly keep my eyes from falling closed every single time they started humping each other. It was so bland and so repetitive, and it was also ALL. THE. DAMN. TIME. They didn't do anything besides have sex. Literally nothing. Their relationship straight up made me uncomfortable. It was so toxic, and if anyone were to try to convince me that these two would actually function as a real-life couple, I would laugh in their face. Just no.

While reading this book, I could almost immediately tell I wasn't going to like it. The story-telling was off and monotonous, the pacing was awkward, the characters were underdeveloped while still managing to be unbelievably infuriating, and I know this is going to sound weird, but that damn baby honestly bothered me as well for some reason. Like, who the hell names their child Pippa anyway? Why would you do that???? And the baby just didn't do anything. I mean, she was there, but she literally wasn't really there?? I don't even know anymore, but I do know that a book has truly hit rock bottom when a freaking baby gets me mad for no reason other than existing.

After leaving home at 15 for the sake of his mother and sister, Nico has been lonely. He has friends and his own tattoo shop but something is missing. He's built walls around his heart. When he receives a call he never expected, he returns home to find he has custody of his sister's daughter. Her best friend, Dr. West Wilde, is having no part of it. He thinks Nico is a multi-colored hair, tattooed no good punk who left his family. Boy is he in for a surprise.

Well this was a nice little surprise. I really enjoyed it for the most part. West is an arrogant, judgmental dick in the beginning. I didn't want to like him. But as he slowly peeled Nico's heart-breaking layers away, West's were peeled back too. And he became a wonderful loving partner for Nico. It was sweet to see their relationship develop over time.

Nico broke my heart. At 15, he thought leaving was the best thing for his sister and mother, so they could have a better life. It was sad to see what went down and how he missed so much. I felt so bad for him and all he had to do to survive. Once he left home, he never really had anyone to love him. He pushed West away because he just knew the buttoned up doctor wasn't for him. Well, he was surprised. I loved watching him fall in love with Pippa too.

This probably would have been 5 stars for me if they could have worked things out a little sooner. I just didn't like the whole "I'm leaving eventually" aspect and Pippa's potential adoption drawn out so long. I needed them to talk it out and make it work. I'm impatient like that.

I'm also not a fan of stupid separations.

Overall, I enjoyed it and look forward to more of this crazy family's stories.

4.5 stars. I really loved this. I needed something sweet and heart-melting and this delivered. Though it took a little for me to get past West being an utter asshole in the beginning. I mean, I got why but really, I kind of wanted to throat-punch him. As you get to know him, he's the sweetest guy ever, so I got over it.

You could say that for both West and Nico. Their character development was excellent and the romance was all the swoon I could want. 🥰 And lets not forget the sexy because it was seriously hot, West and Nico have fantastic chemistry. 🔥 So far, Lucy Lennox has not let me down at all when it comes to delightful, charming romance, even when there's a bit of heartbreak mixed in, like there was here. The romances tend to be a little insta, but she manages to make me totally not care. And my favorite bonus, always, is the family that is included in the story. Love the Wilde family, all of them. ❤️ I look forward to their stories.

Though this one proved to be wonderful all by itself, I actually picked this up to get to Felix and the Prince, so I'm moving right on to the next.

Nothing wrong in overall. It just didn’t work for me. It started well but then my interest started to fade.

First, I couldn’t get a read on the MCs. That’s all on me, it happens sometimes and it sure did here. And when I arrived at the first sex scene, I didn’t find it hot (the “caveman” attitude felt so out of place at this stage for me it ruined it).

Then there were too many little twists in the story for my tastes, so many that I focused more on the inconsistencies than on the story by itself. And one detail really made me cringe .

It’s full of sweetness though, with less “cray-cray” grand parents than in the Marian series.

I didn’t hate this book, it just didn’t do it for me this time.

This is book one if Lucy’s new series about the Wilde family. Let’s just say that I have no doubt they will be wild, wacky and fun to get to know. We first met Nico, Griffin Marion’s best friend, in the Made Marion series.

At the beginning of this book, Nico’s life is upended and he’s forced to return to the small town he left when he learns of the death of his sister and that he is listed as her baby’s legal guardian. When he returns to town he meets up with West Wilde, a small town boy, turned small town doctor. Both West and Nico have instant chemistry with each other. Despite their musings that they can’t stand each, both of them can’t deny the spark that they feel when they’re around each other.

West is super sweet and manages to knock down the barriers Nico has erected around his heart. He’s just perfect for Nico. Despite all his successes Nico broke my heart. He has such strength of character shown in his will and determination to survive and becoming a successful businessman. Yet, he still somehow views himself as a mess-up. West shows such compassion and patience with Nico that I’m glad these two found each other.

They will make you laugh, cry and want them to take the chance on each other and be happy. I can’t wait for more from the West family.

Ok, I absolutely hated West for a good part of this book, such a judgmental bag of dicks!!!!

This would have been a 3 star if I didn't like Nico so much, or if Griff wasn't there for a lot of it 🥰

I'm still completely confused on the sisters logic though, and also in the UK you can't just put someone's name on a birth certificate unless they're there in person to sign it - is this an American thing? If so that's super risky, you could literally say anyone is the dad of your kid!!! I mean it was good for drama but I didn't really feel like the story needed additional reasons for Nico to be stressed or upset about!

This is a great intro to Lucy's new series

This book is comforting and familiar, like a warm snuggly blanket in front of a roaring fire. It has all the elements I'd expect to find in a Lucy Lennox romance and it just made me go awww a lot while reading it.

I like the idea of another giant family where it's not a big deal to be LGBTQ+ and there's acres of support in a loving household filled with people who pass no judgement.

Doc and Grandpa were ace, as was the rest of West's family and I loved that there's still the link back to the Marian series through Nico's friendship with Griffin.

The banter in this was good, there wasn't much in the way of the sexual innuendo of the Made Marian books and instead the reader gets good natured ribbing from siblings as grandparents.

Nico was an enigma, desperately trying to find his place but pushing away any attempt to give him a new opportunity. I was glad West kept at him and wouldn't give up.

There's a low level of angst and the sexual connection between the two MCs is deliciously sensual and emotionally powerful as well as straight up explosive.

I'm looking forward to finding out more from this new family and location. Oh, and that cover has me drooling.

I decided to go back through some of LLs back-log.

I liked this one.

I liked West, I liked Nico.

The baby didn't bother me.

There was good angst, not the annoying angst.

Good connection between the MCs, good steam.

Overall a solid read.

Overall Opinion: This was alright. I liked the premise and I love stories with children in them, though I would’ve liked more interactions with the baby if I’m being honest. I also liked West and his crazy family. But come on, really? West is gay, at least 4 of his brothers are gay, a few of his cousins are gay, his aunt is gay, and his grandfather is gay...what’s in that water? I found it bizarre but it also provided some humor most of the time. I didn’t like how the conflict was resolved with hardly any effort and then it jumped right into an epilogue that still didn’t give me a HEA. Overall I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is West and Nico’s story. Nico has been away from his home for ~15 years and returns after getting notice that his older sister died and left him in charge of her newborn daughter. West was best friends with Nico’s sister and isn’t happy to see Nico after he feels he abandoned his sister years prior. There is some back and forth, some cute baby and crazy family moments, some sexy times...and they get a HFN ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between West and Nico’s POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good until the end, but I never skimmed.

Instalove: No, more like hate-to-love

H1 (Hero #1) rating: 4 stars. West. I liked him. I appreciated how he was comfortable with himself and cared for Nico.

H2 (Hero #2) rating: 3.5 stars. Nico. He was stubborn but also damaged enough to make me forgive him.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Not really, just some mild jealousy

Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends in a pretty good place but only enough for me to call it a HFN ending

Safety: This one should be Safe with exception for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences

As a spin-off from the wonderfully fun and romantic Made Marian series, Facing West was a great start to Lucy Lennox's new Forever Wilde series, featuring another big, boisterous, and loving family, trading the old (never-endingly annoying) grannies for some sweet as pie grandpas.

What I love most is how reliable Lennox is as a storyteller. When I pick up one of her books I’m fairly confident in what I’m going to get.

There will undoubtedly be some passion and romance, with sizzling chemistry between the MCs and sex scenes that scorch their sheets to cinders.

There will surely be a full cast of colourful characters, some of which are a little crazy and/or inappropriate at times, but who mostly fill the pages with their big personalities and bigger hearts.

There will be some angst and some drama to keep the MCs on their toes; although perhaps a little OTT in nature, the drama will generally be entertaining and provide some serious feels.

There will be an awesome audio version narrated by the wonderful Michael Pauley which will just blow your socks off with the level of passion and feels he delivers.

Some of these things will work for readers and some will not, but thankfully, when I’m in the right mood, Lennox’s stories provide me with great enjoyment and comfort me when I’m in need of this type of M/M romance story. As such, I'll happily continue to ride the Lennox story train until the end of the line.

The Made Marian Series totally does it for me. There is just something about this formula that I need every now and then. So, I will not even try to hide for one single second how happy I am that there is a new series that is a spin-off of the Marian Family and is just like them.

HELLO WILDE’S!

I enjoyed this quite a bit. Like its predecessor, it is easy, fun and sexy as Hell. Throw in there a little angst, drama and a frightening past and the book couldn't do any wrong.

West was a judgmental prick at the beginning. I wasn’t sure where is character was going. Luckily he ended up being so much more than the first impression. Nico wasn’t a prize really either…until he was. I ended up liking them both very much.

My favorite part of the whole book though was West’s sexual awakening. Holy hotness.

West before Nico:
“Had you asked me a few hours before what I was like in bed, I would have said I was pretty much plain vanilla. Boring as hell – give, take, whatever.”

West with Nico:
“The sex-crazed lunatic fucking Nico on my kitchen table was a stranger to me.” Oh, oh, oh so hot. The transformation was lovely.

I am super excited for another huge family of boys who need to find love. I can’t wait for what is next!

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4 Surprised ME stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I tried reading Lucy Lennox last year Borrowing Blue the first in the Made Marian series, but I did not enjoy it at all, this month I saw on my gr feed a book from this series that caught my attention and with my OCD I have to start from the beginning so I started reading Facing West.

I started reading this not knowing what to expect and I was happily surprised to be hooked in by Nico and West. At first I thought West was a jerk with his opinion on Nico of how he abandoned his older sister of two years leaving her alone to cope with everything BUT EXCUSE ME West Nico was FIFTEEN when he left home and everything he knew and went to the big city, West did not know what Nico had to do to survive and his sister knew where he was, why did she not reach out to Nico?

It was tough for Nico to come back to Hobie after fifteen years and looking the way he does tattoos, piercings and colourful hair he sticks out like a sore thumb plus having to deal with the death of his sister and meeting his three-month niece Pippa who he has custody of, I really felt for him.

Nico and West start off rough both disliking each other with a passion and West hates the fact Nico has custody of Pippa, they start spending time together only so West can make sure Nico is looking after Pippa properly.

After a while the attraction they have for each other becomes too strong to ignore plus West is jealous when Nico has an admirer, one-night West changes into domineering West and drags Nico to his lair and OH BOY THIS WAS HOT HOT HOT did I mention it was HOT.

What will happen between Dr Weston Wilde and tattoo artist Nico Salerno? Who will Pippa end up with? Sorry you will have to read to find out.

I enjoyed this so much I am glad I gave Lucy a second chance, this was not as sweet as Borrowing Blue, and the rest of the Wilde family was introduced gradually into the story as I felt in BB everyone was thrown in straight away confusing me. I loved Doc and Grandpa they were hilarious.

Facing West has everything you need for a great read, off the scales sexual chemistry, HOT sex, great characters, plenty of emotions and lots of laughs.

I will definelty be continuing with this series SOON as I need to get to know the rest of the Wilde men and maybe catch up with Nico, West and baby Pippa.

The story itself would be a four star book but some parts were just too long for my taste ;)

FACING SOME A-HOLES

Another unexpected surprise by a new to me author. I have read Lucy Lennox combined with Sloane Kennedy but this is my first time reading one of her own works and it was surprisingly good. Like colour me surprised, the lady can really carry a story.

Nico left his backwoods small town to escape their narrow minds and also in hopes of providing a better life for his sister and mom. Who needs a queer screw up around messing up their lives. He left without ever looking back and never planned to return. When a tragedy pulls him back and hands him one hell of a responsibility Nico knows he’s gotta handle shit fast because “home” has Weston Wilde, golden boy doctor with it seems a dislike for all things Nico. Life just got a hell of a lot complicated and Nico doesn’t do complicated.

Weston can’t believe the no good tattooed boy is back in town. How can his best friend leave such a huge responsibility to a flake that is her brother. He had no qualms about leaving everything behind, and now he’s back with all his tats and multicoloured hair. If only his ass wasn’t so damn beautiful it would make hating him a lot easier. His mind is saying that Nico is no good, but if only his dick would listen.

Things I liked: I really enjoyed the story and the overall plot. I was hooked man, the whole town of Hobie drew me in and didn’t let go. I love the whole “I hate you but let’s f*ck” story line. I’m also for the going back home and showing them where to suck it because I made it bitch.

Weston and Nico together are sexy as hell, there was some spicy chilli scenes in here that just felt all kinds of right.

Things I disliked: Sometimes I disliked West, he said some things that contradicted his feelings. He’d point out that Nico wasn’t the type of guy you settle down with but type you mess around with and then leave. Not even a few pages later he’d get in his feelings and sprout about how to never judge a book by its cover (rolls eyes for his contradictory ass). For more than halfway through he saw Nico as an object and not an actual person. It irked me!!

The towns people. There's nothing I hate more than hating ass small towns people.

I didn’t like what the author did with the baby there. The book solely revolves around said baby, but she came off as furniture. It was like “oh yeh the baby”. I don’t think that part of the story was executed quite well, baby Pippa felt like an accessory instead of a vital part of the story.

Overall, another great story with a great sense of family and two beautiful men coming together. I am really excited to dive on into the second book, and I just as excited to check out the rest of L.Ls solo work. Facing West is a great combination of dislike turning into love, with great family bonds, and hot man love. Its a formula that works. Give it a look see!!

SideNote- These long as hell blurbs man...

DNF. I'm giving this two stars for the 50% that I read of it.

If you're really into babies, well, go for it. If you're really into bitter, angsty, tattooed men distrusting everyone around them, go for it. If you're into Dr. Hunky saves the day, go for it. I couldn't bring myself to care enough for the characters, storyline, setting (small town Texas) to continue on. The writing, too, felt uninspired. I was looking to a fun, comfort read--this wasn't it.

I was a big fan of the Made Marian series and was excited to pick this up. Yeah, won't be picking up any more in this series.

And hey, instead of lesbian grannies we've got gay grandpas. And a big family, most of who is gay. Sound familiar?

3.5 stars for this book ... I enjoyed many elements of this story but I often found Nico & West damn annoying and frustrating ! I really wanted to shake Nico and tell him to get his head out of his ass - there were just subtle behaviors that didn't work for me. West was the "hero" type character that was pretty selfless and loyal however I wished he did something rad like fix that dick Curt right up !!! I did enjoy Griff's cameo and I can see where Wests family will be the next Marians. I'll certainly read Felix's story and continue with this series, I just won't go in with super high expectations.

DNF at 56%. This just wasn’t working for me on any level. I didn’t understand how everyone looked at Nico as though he abandoned his sister. I didn’t like how one minute he supposedly hated his sister, but the next he left to make her life better? That just didn’t make any sense to me. Add in the very inappropriate conversation with the grandpas, and I just had to quit.
